“Reusing, Placemaking, Creating Events” is a public performance work which performed as a part of “City Dreams” workshop. The performance team consisted of the participants of the workshop. The theme of the project was creating an event by using waste products like ice cream sticks, paper cups, glass bottles in Abbasaga Park in Besiktas/Istanbul. We made a wish tree to make people in the neighbourhood write their wishes about their living spaces and hang them on the tree. We also made some musical instruments mostly from waste products. Then carried them to the park. Our purpose was to show that people in a neighbourhood can create their own spaces with some simple ideas.
(City dreams is a one-month workshop organization which is organized by Istanbul Municipality Architects Chamber every year since 2005. The workshop brings together the students from wide branches like architecture, city planning, sculpture, graphic design, photography, city arts etc. It is a platform in which the students can express their dreams about the city.)
